  4. Chairman’s Report
    Barry Quantrill gave his Chairman’s Report

  5. Secretary’s Report
    John Guest gave his Secretary’s Report

    The meeting was reminded of the Insurance Scheme that the Society takes out, anyone wishing to view the details of the scheme was invited to contact the Secretary.

    John had hoped that having retired he would find time to bring the web-site up-to-date, unfortunately this had not happened. Graham Sinclair had kindly volunteered to take over the development and maintenance of the web-site. John had put Graham in touch with the person necessary to help with the hand over

    John again thanked the many members that have contributed Match Reports for the regular Newsletters. John re-iterated the Society’s thanks to Moira for the tremendous effort she puts in to ensure a high quality Newsletter, often working to tight dead-lines.

    John explained that as he was moving up North, he would not be able to continue in his role as Secretary, and thanked his committee colleagues for their help and friendship.

  6. Treasurer’s Report
    Chris Wright gave his Treasurer’s Report

  7. Election of Officers

    There were a number of changes that would be made to The Committee this year as Chairman, Captain & Secretary were all standing down.  Paul & Chris were happy to stand for Treasurer & Fixture Secretary for another year and this was unanimously agreed.  The following people were elected to office :-

    Chairman : Derrick Belcher (Prop : Maurice Jones,Sec : Phil Allen)
    Secretary : Pete Stokes  (Prop : Phil Allen,Sec : Brian Stickley)
    Captain    : Barry Quantrill for 1 year only (Prop : Phil Allen,Sec : Paul Holmes)
    Treasurer :Chris Wright
    Fixture Secretary : Paul Holmes

  8. Tour
    Derrick Belcher & Roger Pitts have volunteered to arrange the tour in 2008.  South West of Paris would seem to be the likely venue on the last week-end of June.  It should not clash with the London to Brighton Bike Ride.

  9. Calendar of Events 2006 – 2007
    Sept 27th Sweetwood (18 holes) ;
    Oct 26th East Brighton (18) ;
    Nov 30th Gatton Manor (18) ;
    Dec 28th Mannings Heath – Kingfisher Course (18)

    It was suggested that in 2008 we may have Society Days at Rookwood, Cowdray Park, Ifield, The Dyke & Worthing.

    It was suggested, and agreed, that we should try going back to the pub (i.e. Bedford) after a game to see how people felt about it.  It was suggested that we try after the East Brighton day.

  10. Competitions.

    Geoff’s Pot again to be contested in the annual match against the Rugby Club Casuals.  Based upon lack of interest in the ‘Wooden Spoon’ competition, it was agreed that we wouldn’t pursue it in 2007/8

  11. A.O.B.

    Xmas Dinner – Gill Wright to investigate just a Xmas Dinner on a Friday in mid December, probably at the Long Room. (This was the preferred option from the 15 replies to the recent survey).

    Annual Dinner – Barry Quantrill to organise. Cost would be £25/head including half bottle of wine/head

    Social Events – The committee will await suggestions from members & interest!

    A Vote of Thanks was given to Barry Quantrill, Graham Boswell & John Guest for their efforts to ensure the smooth running of the Society over the recent years.

There being no further business, the meeting closed at 8:30, followed by a fish and chip supper.
